Hey loves, just wanted to bring you by with some tips on how to stay prayerful no matter what season you are in. If you are always feeling tired or lazy, always forgetting to pray no matter your schedule, or you just want to strengthen your prayer and spiritual life, then this is a post for you.
1. Know that prayer is communication with God
Prayer is an opportunity to come before God and not only speak to Him, but LISTEN to Him. Conversations involve two people, one who speaks, and one who listens. If God could speak the Earth into life, God is able to speak to you. As you begin to seek God, true intimate prayer happens. Getting into the habit of prayer, opens up a new spiritual level in your relationship with God, and you'll always want to talk to Him.
2. Start praying for others
God shows his love for people through others. Praying for others can be a way to show others how you can be there for them. When you pray for others, you will be blessed. Pray for your friends, your family, your church, spouse, etc. Praying for others goes a long way, you never know what battle someone is going through.
The other day, me and my girls were just out getting ready to leave McDonald's just when a man stopped us. He explained that his mother died and he lost his wife and he was broken and on the verge to tears. He asked us for spare change to get gas for where he needed to go but we not only gave some money, we gathered and prayed for him. After prayer, the man was so touched and moved about us praying for him, that made an impact in his and our lives.
Let someone know that you are praying for them. Ask for prayer requests. Offer to pray for someone when they are in need. When praying instead of letting it be all about "you, you, you", take your focus off of yourself and pray for others. Jesus is the greatest example for prayer as in just before he is to be arrested, He goes to pray; but instead of praying for himself, He prayed for us, believers and non believers. (John 17)
3. Surround yourself with other prayer warriors
Surrounding yourself with others that are Christ focused, encourages you on your walk with God. A prayer circle of strong people in Christ is as strong as a prayer from one person. Having a group of people that you can go to for prayer or accountability is important in beginning a prayer life. "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:11
4. Know that prayer is a powerful weapon
We all fight battles everyday and sometimes all the fighting we're able to do is on your knees. When you pray, you are entering a spiritual battle field. You wouldn't go into war unprepared. When you get on your knees to pray, the enemy flees in fear. Speak everything into existence, don't just wait around as if it's suppose to happen, be ready! "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." ~ 1 Peter 5:8
5. Get into His Word
Prayer is not about the words you say, but is about the words that are from your heart. Psalms is a great place to start as it is full of hymns and heart felt prayer.
And that's all the 5 key ways to becoming a prayer warrior! I hope that these tips helped as they are also helping me. Times in life will get hard and you will get tired, but don't give up, because that's what the enemy wants you to do; The enemy tries to limit your prayer, so he can limit you. Don't let him. Remember, you should not pray only when you need something from God, but you should pray always. In a world that is changing, we need to be ready. "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people." ~ Ephesians 6:18
God bless loves.
