She's beautiful. She's smart. She's kind. She's loved by everyone. She has the best clothes. She has the best career making the right figures. These are some thoughts that may cross our minds when we come across her in the bible and in life.
We all want to be her one day. But there is more to her than just those things. How can we be a proverbs 31 woman if we've never took the time to know her? I've decided to do a little study on the proverbs 31 woman and the characteristics that she possess. I hope this challenges you to be the proverbs 31 woman and future wife you desire to be as you are progressing in the Lord. Enjoy!
So what makes a Proverbs 31 woman?
She is trustworthy.
"Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing in value" ~Proverbs 31:11
Her husband has confidence in her because she is trustworthy. Because the Lord is good to her, she is also good to others and because she is good and trustworthy, good and faithfulness are added onto her and her husband's life. "The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the Lord." (Prov. 18:22) When one obtains favor from the Lord, they lack nothing. As a woman of God, it's important to know your worth and value. You are a treasure.
She is consistent in her work and refuses to give up.
"She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands" ~Proverbs 31:13
She jumps at the task and is eager to get the job done. She is skilled in all that she does. Back in the days of the bible, working with fabrics and fibers was no easy task. They were used to make clothing to wear or to sell to the merchants. It took consistency, time, and most importantly skill to get the job done. I'm not saying here that you must learn how to use these materials and make clothing, but as a woman it's a great deal to know how to do things for yourself.
She is energetic and strong, a hard worker.
"She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks." ~Proverbs 31:17
She is ready to work with a great attitude because she knows that her hard work will be soon rewarded and that the Lord will bless her. She fights laziness and knows the important of productivity.
She is generous and compassionate towards others.
"She opens her arms to the poor and opens her arms to the needy" ~Proverbs 31:20
She is not just generous and open to those who are in need but she is generous and open to those in her life. She understands that helping others in need allows God's light to shine through and direct them to Christ. She understands that helping others is her responsibility as Roman 12:13 says, "When God's people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality."
She contributes to her husband's good reputation.
"Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land" ~Proverbs 31:23
Keep in mind: when you are joined with your spouse, you two become one. You both are a reflection of each other. Because she respects herself, her husband is also respected. She understands that when people look at her, they are also looking at her husband and family.
She knows where her trust lies.
"She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future." ~Proverbs 31:25
She knows that she is full of worth and value not by the things around her but of the One that lives in her. She strives to carry a smile on her face and does not give in to worry because she knows that God holds her future.
She is soft and kind.
"She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness" ~Proverbs 31:26
She is soft and kind in her words. She understands that her words have power and that life and death are on her tongue (Prov. 18:21) . Even if she is rudely talked to, she responds in a soft and gentle manner because she knows that gentleness and kindness will win them over other than anger and quarreling. She also carries herself with grace.
She values her relationship with the Lord.
"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised" ~Proverbs 31:30
She understands that her relationship with the Lord is what makes her valuable and beautiful to others. Her honor to the Lord allows her to make honorable choices and live an honorable life pleasing to Him. She focuses on the Lord and His will for her life, and strives to put Him first. She knows that putting her relationship with the Lord first sets the tone for the relationships in her life.

The best time to start is now. The sooner you start, the better it is to carry these along with you in your life. Grow in your relationship with Him and watch Him change your life.
